| Have any of you fine people been to this location to experience your car rolling backwards/forwards up hill ?
If so, did any of you manage to actually get the car rolling ?
And is there any other locations like this in the UK ?
Not actaully mysterious but an optical illusion, fun though as are some of the explinatons of why it happens. |

| Been there a few times its on the A719, just over a mile south of Dunure, (http://www.mysteriousbritain.co.uk/scotland/ayrshire/dunure.html) which is always worth a visit. It's quite a dangerous place a cars are often parked in the middle of the road waiting to roll uphill!
There is layby were you can try out the effect and a stone that explains the effect. It is a landcape illusion, the road is on a 1/85 slope but the landscape makes it appear that uphill is actually down hill. When you release the hand break the car appears to roll uphill, it does work and feels quite wierd.
It's original name is Croy Brae, the term electric dates from a time when it was believed electrical or magnetic energies were the cause. Not sure if there is any lore dating from before the motor car.
Did you try the last time you were in Scotland? |
