I agree - the quality of groups varies so greatly that it's difficult to make an overall judgement of whether groups help or not. Some do, some don't.

So is educating these groups the answer?

If they don't have the natural talent to learn how to investigate properly then education is pretty redundant. Whilst it's not ASSAP's fault and I've no agenda or particular person in mind in saying this, there are some people out there who've been on ASSAP training days etc but show no discernible sign of having learned anything!

The problem is, there is so little decent information available, either in books or on the web. The whole subject is dominated by the TV imitators these days.

Well we could always host articles about investigating on Mysteriousbritain, we get good visitor figures so it may help spread the word, but as far as TV goes, well, that would take persuading a TV Producer of the error of their ways, which would be hard as the usual format such as Most Haunted is so popular with audiences.

Out of interest, Ian, what ARE your visitor figures, if you don't mind me asking?

If Most Haunted is very popular then logically it's the viewers who are to blame... Smile
